Training & Certification

Company Certification
Aero-Flite maintains an FAA Authorized Flight Operations Certificate under 14 CFR Part 137. The Aero-Flite Aviation Maintenance Program operates under the jurisdiction of a FAA Authorized Part 145 Repair Station as prescribed by the USFS.

Pilots
Aero-Flite’s professional aviators receive annual training that meets or exceeds FAA and Agency requirements. Flight Operations Management oversees a extensive training regimen that consists of ground, simulator and aircraft flight training. Areas of emphasis include but are not limited to safety, human factors, crew resource management, low level awareness, and aerial firefighting techniques.

Flight training for all of our Pilots is based upon Standard Operating Procedures, calculated Risk Management, and Industry Standards. This ensures pilot standardization, and promotes a careful approach to a dangerous mission.

Technicians
Aero-Flite’s fleet of aircraft are inspected and maintained by highly seasoned and professional A&P-licensed mechanics.  Our technicians receive their initial training on the CL-415 by attending the CL-415 maintenance technicians course. They also attend a CL-415 simulator course to prepare them for engine runs and taxi operations. The Avro RJ85 technicians receive RJ85 technician training by attending an approved Avro maintenance course.  Technicians also receive refresher training on various aircraft systems which are conducted weekly during the execution of the annual winter maintenance program.  These classes are instructed by Aero-Flite’s Director of Maintenance as wells as various other maintenance supervisors / instructors.  Aero-Flite also has an apprentice program which enables mentoring by highly experienced internal and external technicians and maintenance supervisors.
