Brock Hindman

Chief Pilot Dash 8-400AT Program

Growing up in Northeast Oregon, Brock developed a love for aviation and aerial firefighting while watching airtankers fly out of the La Grande airport. After fighting fires on the ground during the summer of 1999, he began his aviation career by attending college at Rocky Mountain College. Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science, Brock continued working as a Flight Instructor until moving into the charter department at Lynch Flying Service. Brock accepted a job at Horizon Air in September 2005 as First Officer on the CRJ-700. Later he received a call from Neptune Aviation for a Co-Pilot position on a Tanker for the 2007 season.

During the 2008 fire season he took a job with Aero Union Corporation flying the P-3 Orion until May of 2011. Moving to Central Oregon and began his Forest Service Career, where he became a qualified Leadplane Instructor Pilot and Air Tactical Pilot during ASM missions. While in this role he finished a Master’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Aeronautical Science.

An opportunity presented itself in the spring of 2017 and Brock found his way back to the airtanker industry as a Captain on the Avro RJ85 with Aero-Flite. In 2022 Brock moved into the role of Chief Pilot for Aero-Flite’s new fleet of Dash 8-400 airtankers.  When not flying or working on other projects, Brock enjoys spending time outdoors skydiving, skiing, hunting, and fishing.
