Kevin Maheu

Q400 Chief Pilot

Kevin brings more than 25 years of specialized experience in fire aviation and is widely regarded as a trusted expert within Aero-Flite. His career reflects a deep commitment to advancing aerial firefighting through safe, effective, and efficient operations.

Kevin began his aviation career as a crew chief on H‑53 helicopters in the United States Air Force. He later expanded his skill set as a part‑time flight instructor and Part 135 pilot in Utah while simultaneously working full‑time as an aircraft mechanic performing C‑130 depot‑level maintenance. This dual background in both flight operations and aircraft maintenance has given him a rare, comprehensive understanding of the industry.

Over the course of his career, Kevin has flown an extensive range of aircraft. He has instructed aerobatics and Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) and, in fire aviation, he began as an air attack pilot before transitioning to large airtankers, accumulating experience in the C‑130A, DC‑4, P‑3 Orion, P2V Neptune, AT802 Fire Boss, MD‑87, RJ85, and most recently, the Dash 8-400AT (Q400).

Kevin has served as an instructor pilot (AKTP) on the RJ85, MD‑87, and Q400. His passion for training and talent development has played a key role in expanding Aero-Flite’s Q400 program and strengthening the company’s operational capabilities.
